Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how SalaryTruth (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles information when you visit salarytruth.vercel.app and our calculator tools. We built this site to be useful without asking you for personal data — every salary, tax, and comparison calculation runs inside your own browser.

1. Information we do not collect

We deliberately keep things minimal:

• We do not require you to create an account or sign in.
• We do not ask for your name, email, phone number, PAN, Aadhaar, or bank details.
• The salary figures, CTC, city, role, and other values you enter into our calculators are processed entirely in your browser and are never sent to our servers or saved to any database.

2. Information stored on your own device

Some of our pages use your browser’s localStorage to remember small preferences — for example, your light/dark theme choice. This data stays on your device, is not transmitted to us, and you can clear it at any time from your browser settings.

3. Cookies and third-party services

SalaryTruth uses a small number of third-party services that may set cookies or collect information when you visit the site:

3.1 Google AdSense

We display advertisements served by Google AdSense. As a third-party vendor, Google uses cookies to serve ads on our site. Specifically:

• Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies (including the DART cookie) to serve ads to you based on your prior visits to this site or other sites on the Internet.
• Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visit to our sites and/or other sites on the Internet.
• You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You may also opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.

3.2 Hosting (Vercel)

Our site is hosted on Vercel. Like every web host, Vercel automatically processes basic request logs (IP address, user-agent, requested URL, timestamp) for the purpose of delivering pages and protecting against abuse. Vercel’s practices are described in their own privacy notice.

3.3 Google Fonts

We load the Inter font through Next.js’s built-in font system, which self-hosts font files. This means font requests are not sent to Google.

4. Affiliate and external links

Some links on our site point to third-party services (for example recruiters, learning platforms, or financial product comparison sites). Where we earn a referral fee, we mark this clearly. Clicking such a link takes you to a separate website with its own privacy policy — we have no control over their practices, and this Privacy Policy does not apply there.

5. Children’s privacy

SalaryTruth is intended for working professionals. Our service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the site, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

6. Your choices

• You can browse SalaryTruth without providing any personal information.
• You can disable cookies in your browser settings, although doing so may affect how ads are shown to you.
• You can clear any preferences stored in your browser’s localStorage from the browser’s privacy settings.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the services we use or in applicable law. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review the policy periodically.
