Please read this carefully.

SalaryTruth is a free educational tool. All salary, tax, and comparison numbers shown on this site are estimates based on simplified models. They are not financial, tax, legal, investment, or career advice.

1. Calculations are estimates

Our calculators apply general formulas using the inputs you provide and the tax slabs we have implemented. Real outcomes depend on factors we cannot know from a few inputs — including but not limited to:

  • Your employer’s specific salary structure (basic vs. allowance split, special allowances, ESOPs, variable pay, bonuses);
  • Investment declarations under sections 80C, 80D, HRA, LTA, NPS, and other exemptions;
  • State-specific professional tax rates and labour rules;
  • Mid-year changes to the Income Tax Act, Finance Act amendments, or circulars issued by the CBDT or EPFO;
  • Local or sector-specific salary benchmarks we may not have captured.

The outputs of any calculator on this site should be treated as a starting point for your own research, not as a final number you can act on.

2. Not professional advice

Nothing on SalaryTruth — not the calculators, articles, FAQs, comparison pages, or blog posts — constitutes professional advice. For any decision involving meaningful amounts of money, please consult an appropriately qualified professional:

  • A Chartered Accountant (CA) for tax planning, ITR filing, and deductions specific to your case;
  • A SEBI-registered investment adviser for investment and retirement decisions;
  • A lawyer for employment-contract or notice-period disputes;
  • Your HR / payroll team for the actual structure of any offer letter or appraisal.

3. Salary benchmarks are illustrative

The salary ranges, city multipliers, and company-tier figures shown for specific roles are derived from publicly available market signals and broad ranges, not from a live or audited dataset. Real compensation varies widely between individuals at the same role, level, and location. Treat “underpaid” or “well paid” verdicts as one data point, not a definitive judgement.

4. Third-party content and links

Where we link to or reference third-party services (job portals, course platforms, financial-product comparison sites, government resources), we do so for convenience. We are not responsible for the accuracy, availability, content, or practices of those sites. Some external links are affiliate links from which we may earn a referral fee at no extra cost to you.

5. Advertisements

SalaryTruth displays advertisements served by Google AdSense and other third-party networks. We do not endorse the products or services advertised, and we do not control the targeting of ads shown to you. See our Privacy Policy for how advertising cookies work and how to opt out of personalised advertising.

6. No warranty

The Service is provided on an “as is” basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that calculations will be accurate to the rupee, that articles reflect the latest law, or that the site will be available at all times. Your use of the site is at your own risk.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SalaryTruth and its operators will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of your use of the Service or any reliance you place on its content. Full liability terms are set out in our Terms of Service.

8. Spotted an error?

We genuinely want the site to be accurate. If you find a calculation that looks wrong, an outdated tax slab, or a salary range that’s clearly off, please tell us through the Contact page. We read every report.
